After earning an Honours Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Melisa Siragusa received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO). During her studies at ICO, Dr. Siragusa became a member of the International Optometric Honours Society - BSK, for high academic achievement. She received training in ocular health and disease, therapeutics, contact lenses, pediatric and refractive co-management at several clinics throughout the United States, including the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Newington, CT, Highline Vision Center in Centennial, CO, and the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Siragusa is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, College of Optometrists of Ontario and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She has served on the Ontario Association of Optometrists Member Services, Retention and Recruitment Committee. She is certified by the Board of Examiners of Optometry in the use of Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents. Dr. Siragusa has also been accredited by the National Board of Examiners of Optometry and the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease in the United States.
Dr. Mascarenhas is a passionate & dedicated optometrist who graduated from the University of Waterloo with her Bachelor of Honours Science and went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry.
Her clinical training provided her with the opportunity to practice in a wide range of clinical settings, among diverse patient demographics. Dr. Mascarenhas’ experience in the optometric field includes eye surgery post-op care and chronic disease management including dry eyes and cataracts, at an optometry and ophthalmology clinic in Arizona. In North Carolina, she focused on primary eye care and contact lens fittings. She gained experience diagnosing and managing conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts and glaucoma at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Hospital.
Dr. Mascarenhas has a special interest in specialty contact lenses and myopia control management, including Orthokeratology. Not only can she prescribe Ortho-K, but she is an Ortho-K patient herself.
She is dedicated to providing high quality comprehensive eye care in a patient focused environment.
Shubneet joined the team at Nobleton Optometry in 2019 as our licensed optician. Shubneet completed her opticianry degree at Seneca College. She loves to assist patients in finding the perfect frame to fit each unique face and personality. She also takes the time to discuss with patients their unique visual needs to ensure the appropriate lenses and coatings are selected for their daily needs. Shubneet’s favourite eyewear includes Tom Ford and YSL.
Sophie is our Ocular Hygienist and Optometric Assistant here at Nobleton Optometry. A graduate of Western University, Sophie has a special interest in science and patient care. You will find her conducting our testing in the office, including OCT imaging, fundus photos, visual field testing, topography and meibography. As an ocular hygienist, Sophie specializes in eye hygiene and provides routine lid debridement/blepharoexfoliation treatments to patients and assists Dr. Siragusa in advanced ocular service treatments. She is also trained to assist with frame selection in our optical store to get you fitted with the best eyewear to suit your needs.
